Tottenham happened again to West Ham: Spurs player ratings
Harry Kane-7.5
It was a really uneven performance for the Tottenham striker, but that’s to be expected. Remember this is only his second match back from injury.
Regardless of how he struggled during the match’s first 80 or so odd minutes, he finished the match with a terrific flourish. He got the two goals, but truthfully he was the beneficiary of terrific play from Son Heung-Min.
Still, Kane gets credit for being in the right positions to put the ball into the back of the net. That’s what a striker does, and Kane fills the role beautifully for Mauricio Pochettino.
Vincent Janssen-5.5
Tottenham fans continue to be confused by Janssen’s continued involvement. His foolish defensive play could have easily cost his club three points yesterday.
There’s no excuse for his decision to give away a penalty in the second half. Even though Winston Reid clearly got away from him, you have to force him to finish the chance. Giving away the penalty was a stupid play.

On the other hand, you have to give the Dutchman some credit for the club’s first goal. He may or may not have handled the ball, but he fired a shot on goal that resulted in a golden opportunity for Harry Winks.
Ultimately it was another weak performance for the club’s second striker. He needs to pick up his play soon or else risk falling down the depth chart after a smart January acquisition.
Hugo Lloris-6.5
It’s rather difficult to evaluate the French keeper in a match like this. He really didn’t have a chance on either of West Ham’s goals. It would have taken a miraculous effort to deny either Antonio’s header or Lanzini’s penalty.
Other than that, it was a quiet day for the Tottenham captain. He really wasn’t forced to make any troubling saves. The two West Ham goals were converted during their only two chances of the evening.
