5 ways the Champions League failure could help Tottenham
1. It could push Levy to spend
This has to be the greatest hope of the Tottenham fan base after the Monaco debacle. Pochettino is already starting to make noise about the club’s lack of quality depth. His words could finally push Daniel Levy into the transfer market in a big way.
I wouldn’t expect that to happen in January. The winter window is notorious for high prices for pretty average stars. The club will show some activity, but the big purchases are much more likely to occur next summer.

Levy knows that he can’t afford for Pochettino to become disgruntled with the options available to him. He won’t want to break the bank with a new stadium bill coming, but the manager has the ability to force his hand. Again, Pochettino is the most prized asset at White Hart Lane.
Tottenham certainly need more quality if they’re going to be a factor in Champions League competitions in the future. The combination of a few key injuries, and a lack of depth behind them cost Spurs a chance to advance to the Group Stage.
