5. Dele dove, so what?

At best, Dele Alli made an absolute meal out of the challenge that sent him sprawling into Swansea’s penalty area on Saturday. At worst, Kyle Naughton never touched him and he took a complete dive. The reality of the incident is that it doesn’t matter.

If the Premier League really want to clean up diving, then they can enact harsh, retroactive punishment for repeat offenders. It isn’t a difficult thing to do. In my mind, it should have been done years ago.

More from Tottenham Hotspur

Given that the Premier League hasn’t elected to enact such legislation, it’s certainly something that players can attempt to take advantage of. I may not like that a Tottenham player plays that sort of dirty game, but it’s impossible to ignore the potential advantages.

Ultimately, Dele is just doing everything he can to help Tottenham win football matches. It’s hard to find a great deal of fault with that. He’s a player that does everything he can for the club. He can play for me any day, anytime.
