The Back Four

If Pochettino elects to start Danny Rose and Kyle Walker together in this match I might truly go insane. They need a rest and this is the perfect match to leave them on the bench.

Ben Davies and Kieran Trippier aren’t perfect fullbacks, but they’re good enough to handle a pretty weak Hull City attack. Spurs figure to see plenty of the ball and both men are capable of contributing in the opponent’s final third. It wouldn’t surprise me at all to see one of those two men find their way into the assist column on Wednesday.

More from Tottenham Hotspur

If I were in charge of Tottenham, I might elect to make a change in central defense but I don’t expect Pochettino to be that bold. Starting Kevin Wimmer in place of Jan Vertonghen is possible, but ultimately I believe Poch will play it safe.

That means Spurs will trot out their usual defensive partnership of Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld. They shouldn’t have much to do against Hull, but playing a backup here would be a pretty substantial risk in a must win match for Tottenham.
