Is Mike Dean a Spurs supporter?

While it’s unfair to kick someone when they’re down, Mike Dean makes it rather easy to have some fun at his expense.

Dean is very demonstrative on the pitch and his actions are often taken out of context. In November 2015 the referee was in charge as Tottenham hosted Aston Villa.

In the third minute of the match Spurs’ Moussa Dembele scored. Dean can clearly be seen waving his hands and gesturing as if in celebration. Some either interpreted his movements as happiness or decided to spread the rumor that Dean was a closet Spurs supporter.

Villa fans have not forgotten that moment and you can imagine their horror when they realized that Dean will be the referee for Villa’s FA Cup contest this weekend at White Hart Lane.
