N’Golo Kante: Chelsea

75 % of the earth is covered by water and the rest is covered by N’Golo Kante.

Was it really that surprising this man is number one? He is so good that people have made jokes about him in a similar fashion to Chuck Norris.

N’Golo Kante joined Chelsea after inexplicably winning the Premier League Title with Leicester City in the 2015/16 season. Chelsea triggered his release clause which was amazingly low and Chelsea got him for £30m which in hindsight was an absolute steal.

More from Playing for 90

He is now set on winning his second Premier League Title in successive seasons… but with Chelsea.

He has been an instrumental part in turning Chelsea’s fortunes around and perhaps Leicester suffered without him.

His statistics prove how much of a machine this man is. He can run for days and his 14 successful tackles against Liverpool was a season record.

To put that in perspective, no Liverpool player made more than four tackles in that match.

While Gueye has a higher tackling average than Kante, it’s fair to say that Chelsea usually has more possession than Everton throughout the season. Thus, Kante has fewer opportunities to make tackles. Although his statistics are still highly impressive.

Appearances: 23

Tackles: 3.6

Interceptions: 2.4

Clearances: 1.1

Dribbled past: 1.1

Blocks: 0.1

Aerials won: 0.7

While his aerial duels aren’t quite as impressive as Wanyama, for such a small guy he is able to run and tackle quickly. His stamina and fast legs make him like a pest in the midfield for opponents constantly gnawing away at opponents and snatching the ball at will.

It’s almost a given that Chelsea will win the title this season If he continues this form. Defence is the best form of attack they say…wait they don’t. But they should.
