Will an injury to Harry Kane be the end of Tottenham’s top of the table run?

After just 10 minutes, Harry Kane suffered an injury against Millwall in the FA Cup. The ankle injury initially caused panic, as it was feared he would be out the rest of the season. A scan has shown that is not true, but the news is still not great for Tottenham fans.

After varying reports have come back since the scan, it is unclear as to exactly how long Kane will be out. The general consensus is that he will be out at least six weeks, meaning Kane will miss the FA Cup semi-finals clash with Chelsea. There is optimism, however, that he will be healthy for the following match Spurs have against rivals Arsenal on the 30th of April.

Regardless of when he comes back, someone in the Tottenham team will need to step up and lead the line. Replacing 18 league goals will not be an easy task, but there is enough quality in the team to stay afloat until Kane’s return.

Behind Kane in goals for Tottenham is attacking midfielder Dele Alli. As long as the wide service from Walker and Eriksen stays the same, Alli should be able to continue his goal scoring ways, increasing on his tally of 13 in the Premier League.

More from Tottenham Hotspur

Another possible, more obvious replacement is Vincent Jansen. The striker finally got his first goal from open play for Tottenham against Millwall. The young Dutch striker still has not adjusted to the Premier League quite yet, but getting regular minutes should help him out a lot.

A final idea would be to play Son as a striker. The Korean has had a fantastic year for Spurs, scoring 15 goals in all competitions. Usually used as a super sub late on in games, he always seems to find his way on to the score sheet. Putting him as the lone striker could be just the fix Tottenham needs until Kane returns.

There is no doubt that Kane will be missed in the Tottenham team. With the Chelsea match being the biggest miss for Kane, Spurs should do just fine without him domestically. They have the quality to continue to score goals and should stay in the top three in the coming weeks.
