Tottenham will not part with Dele Alli

In a signal of a real shift in transfer philosophy, Tottenham will not consider selling their brightest star to Real Madrid this summer. Spurs have been so adamant in their refusal to part with Dele that now Zinedine Zidane’s squad don’t even plan to make a summer bid.

When rumours of Real’s interest in Dele first popped up, you couldn’t blame Spurs fans for being a little nervous. After all, Tottenham fans have seen stars like Luka Modric and Gareth Bale trade North London in for the Spanish capital in recent years.

Fortunately for the club’s passionate fan base, they won’t see a repeat of that sort of thing this summer. Sources from England insist that Tottenham officials are extremely confident of keeping hold of their prolific midfielder this summer. In fact, Daniel Levy and company don’t expect Real Madrid to even make a serious offer.

That news should send joyous shockwaves throughout White Hart Lane. Dele has been spectacular for Mauricio Pochettino this season. He’s scored an incredible 15 goals in 29 appearances from the club’s midfield. At 20 years of age, he’s unquestionably one of England’s brightest young talents.

More from Tottenham Hotspur

That, of course, is precisely why many pundits believed he’d be headed to Madrid this summer. In fairness, he certainly has the talent to make that sort of move. Those pundits underestimated Tottenham’s resolve though. Levy and the rest of the club’s higher-ups are convinced that Pochettino can transform the club’s young core into a consistent Premier League title contender.

That’s a pretty easy theory to believe in at the moment. Spurs are the only legitimate title to Chelsea in the race for this year’s crown. They’ve managed to stay within hailing distance of the Blues despite a myriad of injuries. Don’t forget, Spurs played their last Premier League match without the likes of Danny Rose, Harry Kane, Hugo Lloris and Victor Wanyama.

Some critics might question Dele’s temperament, but even that’s improved as this season has progressed. His ugly Champions League red card seems like a long time ago now. It will hurt Spurs next season, but it’s proven to be a valuable lesson for Dele.

Next: Conte shows he's concerned about Tottenham

You can count on a multitude of stories linking Dele to various transfer moves this summer, but you shouldn’t believe any of them. If Tottenham have already scared off Real Madrid, there’s no one left for Spurs to fear.
