Christian Eriksen-8

The classy Dane only ended up with one assist for his efforts, but he was excellent on the afternoon. His constant movement kept his club’s attack ticking for long stretches.

His energetic play allowed him to get on the ball frequently. That kept Juan Mata and Jesse Lingard anchored in their own half. It was really Eriksen’s play that kept United pinned back for most of the day.

The only quibble with Eriksen’s performance is that he couldn’t get in position to trouble David de Gea more often. With his ability to score from long-range, you’d like to see him take a few more chances. That’s a minor point against Eriksen on an excellent performance.

More from Tottenham Hotspur

Son Heung-Min-5

The Korean attacker should have been forced to purchase a ticket. It was a very empty performance for a player of his caliber.

He was gifted a golden opportunity to go against de Gea one v one after the ball bounced his way. Instead of capitalizing on his good fortune, he tried to hit his shot through the Spanish keeper. Predictably, that didn’t work.

For me, Son’s better suited as a substitute off the bench. This match simply reinforced that cold reality.

Dele Alli-7

The 21-year-old Englishman would have loved to find his way on the score sheet in the last match at White Hart Lane. Even though he didn’t, his energy and creativity on the ball still bothered United’s defense all afternoon.

That’s the difference between his performance and Son’s. Even when Dele doesn’t score a goal or provide an assist, he still torments the opposition. United’s entire defense was always aware of where Dele was on the pitch. That gravity on the pitch gives significant room to his teammates.
