With seven of the eight teams still able to qualify for the semifinals, the final group stage match of the Confederations Cup is set up for a fiery finish

Match day two is finished and the Confederations Cup is heading into the final group stage games. The groups are still wide open, with only New Zealand eliminated after their losses to both Russia and Mexico. All other teams are still able to advance to the semifinals, so the match day three should see a fantastic finish to the group stage.

Chile, Germany, Mexico and Portugal all have identical records, each winning and drawing once. Chile leads group A on goal differential and Mexico is atop group B only because they have scored one more goal than Portugal.

Monchengladbach frontman Lars Stindl leads the tournament in scoring, netting in both matches against Australia and Chile. Plenty of other big names are on the list of scorers for the tournament. Notably, Cristiano Ronaldo, Alexis Sanchez, Arturo Vidal and Javier Hernandez all have scored once for their nations.

Group A finale

Germany will play Cameroon, with a win sending the Germans to the semifinal. Cameroon is bottom of group A with a -2 goal differential. They will need to win by at least three goals if they hope to advance to the next stage of the competition.

More from Playing for 90

This will not be an easy match for Germany, who will need to be wary of the speed the Cameroonians possess. After making no substitutions in their last match against Chile, German coach Joachim Löw will surely be making a handful of changes to the team.

That leaves Chile to play against Australia. Like the Germans, Chile will solidify their spot in the semifinals with a win over the Socceroos. Getting Sanchez back from injury for the match against Germans proved big, as the Arsenal man scored in the sixth minute. Chile will hope for more of the same to push past Australia, who need a 2-0 win or better to move on to the next round.

Group B finale

Mexico will hope for a win against the hosts Russia. The feisty end to their match against New Zealand drew a lot of attention, so it will be interesting to see how they line up against Russia. They have scored two goals in both their matches, so a solid defensive effort from the hosts will be the main agenda. A win by either side will secure their place in the semifinals, so this will be the match to watch. It should be a hotly contested match with plenty of action throughout.

Portugal seemingly has the easiest match of the bunch, facing off against bottom of the barrel New Zealand. The Oceanic champions have scored just one goal, with Leeds top scorer Chris Wood netting against Mexico. They will have an even tougher task against the Euro 2016 champions. Ronaldo and company will be looking for nothing short of a convincing win as they look to head into the next round.

Overall, match day three is sure to be filled with tight and exciting matches. June 24th will see Mexico vs. Russia and New Zealand vs. Portugal, with both matches kicking off at 11am EST.
