4. Vincent Janssen is still a question mark

Optimistic Spurs fans like myself really hoped that Vincent Janssen would start out his preseason with an electric performance against PSG. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen. Instead, he put forth an entirely anonymous effort against his French opposition.

More from Tottenham Hotspur

It was not the sort of performance that is going to quiet any of Janssen’s doubters. Instead, it’s very likely that his weak effort will raise even more questions about who should serve as Harry Kane’s backup.

In fact, Janssen’s terrible match may push Pochettino and company to look elsewhere for attacking cover. Spurs simply cannot afford to rely on the Dutchman in case of serious injury to Harry Kane. It might be time to admit he just isn’t suited for the demands of Premier League play.

The door isn’t completely closed on Janssen’s Tottenham career, but it’s starting to shut. He’ll need to improve his play immediately if he’s going to serve as Spurs’ second striker this season.
