2. Get the ball to Harry Kane

It may seem painfully obvious that getting the ball to one of the world’s best strikers would be a good idea for Tottenham. Unfortunately, Pochettino’s troops occasionally forget how good Kane can be.

More from Tottenham Hotspur

That’s why it’s vital to get Kane some time on the ball early and often against the Hammers. Even if he isn’t putting the ball in the back of the net, the attention he garners could unlock space for his teammates. It’s hard for him to create that sort of space without commanding the ball early in the match.

The truth is it really doesn’t matter where Kane receives the ball on the pitch. It’s just important for him to touch it. Even if he has to drop back to receive a pass, he’s still going to cause the defense to roll up to combat him. Even an innocent touch like that can open up acres of space behind the centre backs.

It should go without saying that Spurs need to feed their best player the ball, but I’m mentioning it anyway. Kane needs some time with the ball at his feet to put himself in a position to dominate this match.
