Tottenham triumph over West Ham: Spurs player ratings
Serge Aurier-5
As I mentioned in the open, Aurier’s first yellow card was pretty questionable. Unfortunately, he simply took too many chances on the afternoon to escape the official’s wrath.
Aurier is going to have to learn that he doesn’t need to leave his feet so often. Sometimes, it’s better for him just to use his pace to win the battle. As an example, his second yellow card came on a rash challenge against Andy Carroll. He could’ve easily used his pace to outrun the English centre forward.

The French fullback made lots of good plays in this match, but they can’t overshadow his foolish sending off. His red card gave West Ham life. That’s why he gets such a poor rating for his performance.
Ben Davies-6
Let’s hope Davies is still working to recover his full match fitness. He seemed a step slow today and didn’t do much quality defending for his club. The Welshman was very fortunate Vertonghen was so good on the day.
Davies did get forward on several occasions, but he didn’t manage to create any legitimate scoring chances. Add all of that up and you have a very average performance by Pochettino’s left back.
