Tottenham v Huddersfield projected Spurs XI: How will Pochettino cope with midfield injuries?
Defensive midfielder-Eric Dier
The English international continues to be the biggest beneficiary of Tottenham’s injury crisis in the midfield. Based on his mediocre (that’s being kind) form as of late, he should find himself on the bench next to Pochettino.

Unfortunately, the absence of Wanyama and Dembele makes starting him in the middle a near-necessity. Spurs don’t have the depth to cope with two major injuries without playing someone of Dier’s quality. Hopefully this will be the match where he starts to show some comfort being back in his preferred position.
Defensive midfielder-Moussa Sissoko
While Dier’s reputation far outpaces his play, Sissoko’s play as of late far exceeds what most Spurs fans give him credit for. He continues to take advantage of the opportunity injuries to his peers have provided him.
In this match, that will find him in his preferred role as a central midfielder. Expect him to play a more advanced role than Dier, but he’ll still have significant defensive responsibilities. Nonetheless, he’ll be judged largely on whether or not he can create scoring chances from overlapping runs from the midfield. If he’s successful doing that, the Spurs attack will be impossible for Huddersfield to contain.
