Tottenham v Huddersfield projected Spurs XI: How will Pochettino cope with midfield injuries?
Striker-Harry Kane
I have no doubt that Pochettino would like to get Kane some rest sometime soon. That’s one of the reasons Fernando Llorente was purchased on Deadline Day. I also know, however, that Pochettino isn’t about to sit Kane while he’s on such a terrific run of form.
The Spurs gaffer will be looking for his striker to build off his perfect hat trick in Champions League play. Pochettino won’t worry about the perfection aspect of it, but he’d love to see Kane find the back of the net three times against Premier League opposition this weekend.
That might be a bit too much to ask, but you’d have to favour him finding the score sheet at least once. Kane should certainly be the focal point of Huddersfield’s defensive game plan.
Keeper-Hugo Lloris
I was sorely tempted to put Michel Vorm into this match. Lloris played an excellent match against APOEL, but Vorm is perfectly capable of keeping Huddersfield out of the back of the net.
Next: Tottenham preparing for left back upgrade
In the end, just as it was with Alderweireld, it’s the prudent play to deploy Lloris again in this match. It’s just not a match where Tottenham can afford to draw or lose. Three points are required and that’s why Pochettino will trot out his number one keeper once again.
