Tottenham debate: Who is Spurs second best player?
Christian Eriksen
Tottenham’s last remaining member of the “Magnificent Seven” that were purchased to replace Gareth Bale is certainly among the club’s most important players. One need only watch Spurs play without their Danish metronome to understand just how crucial he is to Pochettino’s attack.

In fact Eriksen is the Spurs player with the Whoscored.com player rating average just behind Kane this season. His mark of 7.47 trails Kane by a fair margin, but it does put him above the rest of his teammates.
Critics of Eriksen will point to his lack of physicality and his propensity to go through extended droughts each season as key points against his candidacy. In truth, it’s hard to argue with either of those points. He, like Alli must improve his consistency if he truly wants to be regarded as a world-class attacker.
Ultimately though, he is the Spurs player aside from Kane who is impossible for Pochettino to replace in the starting XI. When he’s missing from the lineup, everyone else suffers. There can be no argument about just how important he is to Pochettino.
