Davinson Sanchez-8

It’s hard for the talented Colombian to earn much higher than an eight in my player ratings. Pochettino simply doesn’t ask too much from him in the centre of his defensive trio.

On the other hand, Sanchez is Hugo Lloris’ last line of defense. If he gets a play wrong, it can easily equal disaster for the French keeper. Suffice it to say, Sanchez got everything right in this performance against Bournemouth.

Toby Alderweireld-6

It was a pretty anonymous performance by the Belgian defender’s high standards. He didn’t make any glaring errors, but he also didn’t find a way to positively influence the match for his club.

In fairness, Alderweireld is asked to shoulder a heavy defensive load when he’s deployed next to Kieran Trippier. It really restricts his ability to run forward and contribute to the Spurs attack. Alderweireld wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t a disaster either.
