Dele Alli-8.5

This wasn’t the dominant performance that Dele is capable of when he’s at his best, but it was pretty close. A subtle positional shift by Pochettino really gave him the time and space to torment Liverpool for long spells.

Instead of playing high up the pitch as a quasi-second striker, he dropped deep frequently during this match. Particularly in the second half, he dropped to play alongside Harry Winks in the double-pivot.

More from Tottenham Hotspur

The results were terrific. He was engaged in the match due to his time on the ball and his late runs into the box gave Tottenham’s attack an extra dimension. Don’t be surprised if we see Dele play a bit deeper against tough opponents as the season progresses.

Harry Winks-7

Some called Winks the Man of the Match, but I didn’t quite see that much quality. He certainly put in a solid shift, but it’s not as if he dominated the match from the midfield.

Don’t interpret that statement as a back-handed compliment. Winks was good in this match. Tottenham fans just need to calm the hype train for the young English starlet down a notch or two. He’s established himself as a quality Premier League regular, but he’s not playing like a star yet.

Christian Eriksen-7

It was a quiet, but effective performance for the Danish midfielder. He’ll be disappointed not to find himself on the score sheet, but he kept his squad competitive in the midfield while he was on the pitch. GIven his lack of size and physicality, that’s a pretty solid accomplishment for Eriksen.
