Tottenham v West Ham projected Spurs XI: Pochettino goes young
Attacking Midfielder-Son Heung-Min
The speedy Korean attacker figures to be one of the few squad players to have started the match against Liverpool and this fixture. He’ll be looking to build off his best performance of the season against the Reds.
In this match, I expect him to play a slightly deeper role. He’ll function more as an attacking midfielder, but he’ll still be expected to get forward quite a bit. Expect to see his darting runs from the centre and left side of the pitch.
Attacking Midfielder-Georges-Kevin N’Koudou
This is a very important match for the young Frenchman. He needs to put in an excellent shift he intends to force his way into Pochettino’s long-term plans. That will require him to put in an impressive shift against the Hammer defence.
More from Tottenham Hotspur
- Bayern Munich reach agreement for Harry Kane
- Antonio Conte goes scorched earth on Tottenham
- Clement Lenglet set to join Tottenham on loan
- Tottenham set to sign Brazilian Richarlison
- Tottenham Hotspur hold off Arsenal for Champions League spot
Fortunately, N’Koudou does possess the pace to burn Bilic’s back line. It will simply be a question of whether or not he can turn his speed into an actual goal. If he does, it could catapult him into Pochettino’s Premier League squad.
Attacking Midfielder-Moussa Sissoko
The more established French midfielder will function as somewhat of a number ten during this match. He won’t necessarily create a ton of opportunities for others, but he should give Llorente an interesting target with his late runs toward goal.
Look for Sissoko and Son to alternate positions several times during the match. Both would prefer to play centrally, but they’ll need to make sure one stays wide at all times to avoid bogging down the Spurs attack. Sissoko is squarely in Pochettino’s plans but could still help himself with a good performance.
