Tottenham can’t let Arsenal sign Nabil Fekir
Mauricio Pochettino is always on the lookout for high-end attacking talent. The Spurs manager may not have originally planned to sign a big money attacker in January, but he should change his plans to keep Nabil Fekir away from Arsenal.
Reports from France claim the Lyon star is contemplating making a big move to England within the next year. Arsenal have been heavily linked with the attacking midfielder in the past, but Tottenham have also been keeping their eye on the prolific goal scorer.
Fekir’s terrific form on the year make it easy for him to garner the attention of big Premier League clubs. He’s scored 11 goals in just 11 Ligue One matches and that’s helped earn him a Whoscored.com player rating average of 8.50. Even more amazingly, he’s been named Man of the Match six times already.
Fekir’s scintillating play is a big reason that Lyon currently find themselves third in the table of France’s top flight. Unfortunately, the club likely lack the financial resources to really challenge the likes of PSG and Monaco for league supremacy.

That explains Fekir’s willingness to look elsewhere. It’s a credit to his loyalty to Lyon that he isn’t interested in a big money move in France. Many French players in his position have forsaken their domestic clubs for the bright lights of Paris in the past. Fekir has been clear that he’s only interested in a move if it allows him to leave Ligue One.
Such news has certainly grabbed the attention of Pochettino and Arsene Wenger. In particular, the Arsenal boss should be eyeing Fekir as a potential replacement for Alexis Sanchez and/or Mesut Ozil. He certainly isn’t ready to dominate Premier League play right away, but he has the talent to develop into a world-class star.
His potential role at Spurs wouldn’t be so straight forward. He’d likely join Pochettino’s attacking midfield rotation initially. Adding him to the likes of Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli could turn into a nightmare scenario for Premier League defenders.

No matter what, you can expect a hotly contested transfer race if Fekir does become available. He’s exactly the sort of special offensive talent that every Premier League club is always looking for.
