Ex-Tottenham star Luka Modric is reportedly upset at Real Madrid and there’s a chance possibly that he could move back to Tottenham.

Luka Modric’s time at Real Madrid has been nothing if not trophy laden.  The midfielder is one of the most decorated players in the history of the club and certainly in the history of the Croatian national team. He has won the Champions League on three occasions and is regarded by many as one of the best midfielders in the world.

Despite the inarguable quality that Modric possesses he is in the middle of a bad situation at Real Madrid.  Currently the Madrid based club don’t even know which way is up and there’s a lot of strife at not only the director but playing level.  Much has been made of the fact that Real Madrid’s locker room is quickly dividing into camps between captain Sergio Ramos and star Cristiano Ronaldo.  Not the most pleasant atmosphere to be sure.

Modric is expected to leave at the end of the season and is currently being chased by Inter Milan and Manchester United.  He could be a perfect addition for the current Tottenham team for many reasons.

Firstly, he’s a winner and has experience.  This current Tottenham side doesn’t lack talent but what they do lack is experience and spine.  It’s why they’ve thrown away their chance at  a Premier League championship this season and let down the rest of English football.

More from Tottenham Hotspur

They’re maybe the only team with enough talent and a style of football to defeat Manchester City this season and without more leadership and experience they simply won’t do it.

Secondly, he’s phenomenal.  Luka Modric is one of the best defensive midfielders and deep-lying playmakers of the past 20 years.

He and Andrea Pirlo are in similar class levels and as my adage goes “always add more talent”.  Now you’ll have to forgive my quoting of myself but the truth is simple.  Modric is a world class player.  Adding more talent to your squad is how you get better.  You can never improve enough.

Tottenham should win this race if they can and it would be a phenomenal career ending move for Modric if he returned from Madrid to lead Tottenham to the title.  Who knows, maybe he’d even bring Gareth Bale with him?
