Defensive midfielder-Victor Wanyama

The most encouraging thing coming out of the Swansea match for Tottenham was the return of Victor Wanyama. The talented midfielder didn’t look rusty at all against the Swans during his substitute appearance.

More from Tottenham Hotspur

Pochettino will desperately hope that he looks just as good as a starter against the Hammers. Moyes will try to use his squad’s physicality to gain a foothold in the midfield, but Wanyama’s heft should leave West Ham frustrated. A cool, composed 90 minutes from Wanyama will put Tottenham in great shape to take all three points.

Defensive midfielder-Eric Dier

Pochettino could go in a number of different directions here. It’s very possible he could elect to rest Dier. If he does, look for Moussa Sissoko to be the choice. I’m betting against that though. Pochettino trusts Dier and will want to make sure he has a solid defense in this match.

The key, as always, for Dier will be to keep the game simple. His performance dips when he tries to take on too much of an offensive load. The Englishman needs to concern himself with moving the ball forward as quickly as possible. He doesn’t need to play like Pirlo for Tottenham to be successful.
