Serge Aurier-6.5

Watching Aurier play is always a bit of a roller coaster. He has the ability to both thrill and terrify his fans within the span of a single minute. Fortunately for Spurs, he was more good than bad before going off injured in the 72nd minute.

His defending wasn’t great, but his terrific pace allows him to cover up for mental mistakes. More importantly, his ability to get forward did hold Ryan Bertrand in check for most of the match. Overall it was a reasonable performance from Aurier, but nothing special.

More from Tottenham Hotspur

Kieran Trippier-5.5

Trippier got about 20 minutes of action in relief of Aurier and didn’t provide Tottenham with too much attacking verve. His complete inability to dribble past defenders really limits his effectiveness. I continue to believe he’s destined for a summer transfer to make way for Kyle Walker-Peters.

Ben Davies-7.5

The Welsh left back was one of the few Tottenham players who managed to stand out in a positive way on the afternoon. His set piece deliveries were a mixed bag, but his corner did lead to Harry Kane’s goal.

On the defensive end, Davies was right on the mark with several smart challenges. If not for his heady display, Tottenham could have been cut open on the counter in the second half. It was another solid performance for Davies in a Spurs shirt.
