Centre back-Jan Vertonghen

Tottenham will be without Alderweireld in this match, but that doesn’t mean the back line will be devoid of Belgians. Vertonghen is a mortal lock to start this match as long as he’s remotely healthy.

Vertonghen will have his hands full grappling with Romelu Lukaku. The two players know one another well and should offer a compelling melodrama all match long. Their battle could go a long way towards determining this match’s winner.

Centre back-Davinson Sanchez

Pochettino’s other centre back choice is just as easy as picking Vertonghen. Sanchez doesn’t have the experience of some of Pochettino’s other choices, but he’s too talented not to get the starting nod.

He too, will share some of the responsibility to keep Lukaku quiet. Sanchez is blessed with the size and speed to hold up well in this match. He simply needs to keep his temper in check and execute Pochettino’s game plan.
