7. Dayot Upamecano

Ever since he broke into the RB Salzburg first-team, Dayot Upamecano has been an object of attention for top European clubs. But instead of moving to a Premier League club to warm the bench, Upamecano moved to a rising club like RB Leipzig.

This season, the 19-year old has been excellent. He has performed consistently, and has made 27 appearances in all competitions. He continues to be in demand, but his €100 million release clause has gone a long way in putting off his suitors.

The young Frenchman likes to get stuck in, and that does not always pay off. But he is also very strong aerially, and is adept at the fundamental defensive skills of tackling and intercepting. Upamecano can go a long way if he plays to his best.

It isn’t long before he gets his first international call-up, and when he does, he needs to do his best for his country. If Upamecano goes on doing what he is doing, he can realise his true potential.
