6. Kai Havertz

The young German midfielder was billed as the ‘next Mesut Özil’ when he started appearing frequently for Bayer Leverkusen, and he has justified his tag with a lot of style. After covering for Hakan Çalhanoğlu in his first season, he has broken into the first-team this season.

The 18-year old has made 23 appearances for Leverkusen this season, scoring 3 goals and providing 6 assists. He possesses a lot of the same qualities as his role model, Mesut Özil. He has a knack for finding killer balls, and is dangerous from counter-attacks.

Havertz is also an adept dribbler, and is an indirect threat from set-pieces. For the German U-19 side, he has scored 6 goals in 5 appearances and may get a call-up to the senior national team in the near future.

He has a long way to go before he can be deemed a world-class player, but he is on the right path. Havertz needs to continue performing consistently for Leverkusen, and he might overtake Mesut Özil in a few years.
