2. Tottenham can’t afford to lose

Spurs are still alive in Champions League football and the FA Cup. Despite all those distractions, Pochettino’s biggest priority is still to make sure he can carve out a top four finish in the Premier League.

More from Tottenham Hotspur

If Pochettino is going to be successful in that vein, he can’t afford to drop points at Selhurst Park. Yes, it can be a very difficult place to play, but Spurs have to win all three points against a side that’s so near the bottom of the Premier League table.

That could force Spurs to play a little tight for the first few minutes of the match, but look for the Tottenham attack to settle in pretty quickly. As long as the Spurs defence doesn’t commit an early error to give Palace a lead, the Spurs attacks should be allowed to batter the Eagles back line for the vast majority of the match.

Palace fans will feel like their club will play with the desperation to avoid relegation, but Tottenham’s positive motivation will outweigh that fear. Spurs know they need all three points from this match and will do everything they can to earn them comfortably.
