Left back-Ben Davies

The Welshman has been Tottenham’s most underrated player of the season. Many Spurs fans, myself included, continue to wait for Danny Rose to wrest this position away from Davies, but he’s kept him completely at bay to date.

Davies may be limited as an athlete, but his decision-making has been perfect this year. He knows exactly when to rush forward into the attack and precisely when he should stay back and protect his own goal. Rose might overtake him eventually, but it’s far from a certainty. No matter what, expect Davies to start today.

Right back-Kieran Trippier

The competition at right back continues to be a hotly contested battle between Trippier and Serge Aurier. The matchup against Palace looks like an ideal time to give the Englishman the starting nod. Spurs should experience quite a bit of possession and that plays to Trippier’s strengths.

No one should be shocked to see Aurier play though. The Ivory Coast defender has a definite athleticism advantage. This call comes down to a simple matter of preference for Pochettino.
