Jack Wilshere must make his mark on the England national team

Jack Wilshere earned a call from Gareth Southgate for England’s latest batch of friendlies, he must make his presence known.
The England national team has been struggling to obtain a solid midfield structure in recent years. That said, it’s always going to be hard trying to fill the boots of Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard. It hasn’t helped the spell of England managers that Jack Wilshere and Jordan Henderson, arguably the best midfielders, have suffered injury upon injury.
However, for the first time in quite a while, both of them have been selected by Gareth Southgate. It’s a midfield packed with talent, with the likes of Dele Alli and Adam Lallana also earning their place in the side.
This is one of the many reasons Wilshere must impress his boss. The midfielder certainly has the talent to better his counterparts, but it will all be a case of who wants it more. He has been playing in the captain’s role for Arsenal recently, so he will need to apply everything he’s known in order to spark some life back into the England national team.
The Three Lions are preparing for their trip to Russia in the summer, where they will compete with Belgium, Panama and Tunisia. Following an embarrassing early exit of the 2016 Euros under Roy Hodgson, the England national team will be desperate to get back on track. Jack Wilshere was part of this lackluster campaign, and he was one of the players who got ridiculed the most, which was unfair.
Applying his trade often in the Europa League this season, the Englishman earned successive starts in the Premier League. He looks like he has finally put the past behind him, as he hasn’t suffered any serious injuries so far this season. Fitness was always going to be the deciding factor for Gareth Southgate, but it looks like Wilshere has finally mastered it.
He’s a very creative player, and he knows what he wants to do as soon as he receives the ball. We’ve seen him play intricate passes in the opposition’s third many times for Arsenal, and it’s a trait which he could use to his advantage for the England national team. He isn’t the player to score dozens of goals, but he certainly has a shot in him should he choose to unleash it. The England fans will have fond memories of his brace against Slovenia.
