Reports suggest Tottenham are ready to swoop for Borussia Dortmund winger Christian Pulisic.

With chief hype around players who have shone at the World Cup – Hirving Lozano and Cristian Pavon at the top of the list – Pulisic, only 19 years old, has flown under the radar this summer.

That might bode well for Spurs who are probably set for a chase if they want to secure the American’s signature.

And they should certainly pursue the winger.

Considering he has most of his career ahead of him, and is nowhere near is peaking years, nine goals in 21 appearances for USMNT are incredible statistics.

He has already forced his way into the Dortmund first team, and if he remains in Germany would surely be part of new manager Lucien Favre’s plans.

Pulisic is a hot prospect, though, and Spurs look the front runners should he force a move away from Westfalen.

His Dortmund performances, and his style of play, suggest Pulisic could be an instant hit at Tottenham.

Mauricio Pochettino’s impressive demeanour around the nurturing of young players – Dele Alli, Harry Kane and Harry Winks the prominent examples – mean Pulisic is in safe hands.

The Argentine is meticulous, and can help Pulisic reach the world class status he looks to be capable of.

Where would he slot in?

In terms of Spurs’ shape, Pulisic would help several players out.

More from Tottenham Hotspur

Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli have had to interchange in an unnatural wide position, and Pulisic would be able to fill that spot with one, or both, of those two coming into their better suited central spot.

Tottenham’s speed on either flank, with Pulisic and Heung-min Son, makes them an even more fearsome outlet. Eriksen, the archetypal attacking midfielder, would have no problems in threading passes through to both sides.

Harry Kane is likely to get more service – Pulisic has already chalked up 14 assists in 70 Bundesliga appearances – and you can count on the England international to finish off.

If Pulisic were to become a regular starter, one of Mousa Dembele, Eric Dier or Dele Alli may be dislodged from the side. Perhaps it is risky as Spurs might become topheavy in an attacking sense, however their firepower could match that of Liverpool or Manchester City.

The rumours are fresh, but Christian Pulisic seems the sort of player who would thrive under Mauricio Pochettino, and in a propitious Tottenham lineup.
