Left Back- Jordi Alba- 7/10

The former Valencia left back was one of the three men who gave the PSV Eindhoven defenders a very tough night, alongside Ousmane Dembele and Phillippe Coutinho. He did well to keep Hirving Lozano at bay and was looking fresh as he attacked. Jordi Alba completed 90% of his attempted passes on the night and succeeded with a well taken overall display.

Centre Back- Gerard Pique- 8/10

Gerard Pique was forced to have a laborious night on his home patch as he struggled to deal with PSV’s counter attacking football due to his slow speed. Yet, he was positioned very well unlike his usual case where he is spotted out of sorts. The former Manchester United defender put in a disciplined performance and similar to his left back, he completed 90% of his passes.

Centre Back- Samuel Umtiti- 4/10

Samuel Umtiti was a very extreme contrast of his usual self against PSV Eindhoven. The France international committed more fouls than he usually does and was called by the ref on five occasions. A red card finished off a poor night for him. He was initially shown a yellow card for dissent and sent off subsequently for blocking a counter attacking chance.

Right Back- Sergi Roberto- 6/10

Sergi Roberto was unleashed at right back ahead of Nelson Semedo and the versatile Spaniard paid off Ernesto Valverde’s trust with a calm and composed second half display. He looked slightly zoned out in the final third during the first half, but was much prudent in the second half and stayed back at defence, thanks to the attackers of PSV who pressed him.
