Juventus player ratings vs Bologna: Dybala leads demolition
By John Vaccaro
CB: Andrea Barzagli 7/10
The old man has still got it. On a pretty slow day for the Juve defense Andrea Barzagli was arguably the most productive of Juve’s 3 center backs. He delivered a tackle, 2 interceptions, and 4 clearances in his first appearance of the year. It was a good match for Barzagli to come back from his calf injury. It was low pressure and didn’t provide him with many opportunities to make a mistake. It wasn’t a performance we’ll remember when his career ends, but Barzagli once again showed he can still play at a high level for Juve.
CB: Leonardo Bonucci 7/10
As expected, it was a light work day for Leonardo Bonucci. He was only required to make 2 interceptions and 2 clearances. Also, Juve went ahead so early that Bonucci didn’t need to contribute to the attack. He did contribute 1 key pass (the one that hit Dybala in the back) and complete 92.7% of his 82 attempted passes. Bonucci did the most he could in his limited opportunities. Luckily for Juve, this match pretty much turned out to be a rest day for Bonucci before the big match against Napoli on Saturday.
CB: Medhi Benatia 7/10
As I’m sure you guessed, Benatia didn’t see much action in this match either. He ended up making 5 clearances and completing 91.3% of his passes, but it was a pretty uneventful day for Benatia. These matches are perfect for players like Barzagli, Benatia, and Daniele Rugani to get into form early in the season with the limited action that they see. Benatia has yet to make a mistake in his limited action and will continue get starts in matches like this.
