Lucas Torreira – 7/10

The Uruguay international was yet again impressive. His all-round play was the key to Arsenal getting all three points, as well as the clean sheet. He was always bound to pick up a yellow card, given the hotly contested midfield battles.

He almost picked up a red card, actually. But that stemmed from him trying to get Troy Deeney sent off in the closing stages in the match. I don’t know about you, but I think I’ll let that one slide. Good work, Lucas.

Granit Xhaka – 7.5/10

My boy came through, but don’t expect the English media to report on that. He was very impressive today, and he looked lively whenever he received the ball. There was a few impressive passes which changed the complexion of the game, something which he is renowned for.

Xhaka looks revitalised alongside Torreira, which is great to see. The defensive onus is finally free of him, allowing him to flourish in play dictation. Let’s hope that this is a sign of better things to come under his new head coach Unai Emery.

Aaron Ramsey – 7/10

He was substituted in the second half, but he had a good display. He was bright, despite what I thought heading into the game. Myself and many others took the view that he would feel deflated from all the contract talks, but he didn’t let it get to him.

At least he’s being respectful and giving the fans what they want, unlike a particular Chilean, but I shan’t mention any names…
