Another rush of blood by Hugo Lloris has cost Tottenham another 2 points in Tottenham’s increasingly morbid Champions League campaign.

Hugo Lloris has had a terrible season so far, with off-field incidents such as his drink-driving charge and on the field, he hasn’t looked like one of the goalkeepers belonging in the upper echelon of the game, and definitely not a World Cup-winning goalkeeper. In a nutshell, Lloris is the human reflection of Tottenham’s woes.

A team like Tottenham is heavily reliant on their attack and if their attack isn’t clicking although Harry Kane is starting to show form, they need to keep the back door closed. Hugo Lloris instead of keeping the back door closed has opened it to an extent that frankly, Paulo Gazzaniga looks like a more stable choice in goal than him.

More from Tottenham Hotspur

Lloris is in real danger of losing his captaincy and spot in the starting eleven, he was given a reprieve for his shocker of a mistake to rush out of his goal against Barcelona but Pochettino will be absolutely furious that his captain let down the team by rushing out of his goal with reckless abandon and leaving his team a man down with a maximum of five minutes left in the PSV game, a crucial Champions League game.

The same theme keeps popping up in Lloris’s mistakes, a rush of blood, perhaps off-field incidents have taken their toll on the Frenchman but for the captain of a young team with great ambitions to display such immaturity and calmness is outrageous.

Pochettino is facing a make-or-break moment, does he once again give his goalkeeper and captain his overwhelming support for the devoted service Lloris has given to Pochettino or does Pochettino go with Paulo Gazzaniga for the Manchester City game.

To put it simply, the Premier League is currently the sole bright light shining in Tottenham’s gloomy season, should Lloris make another howler as he did against PSV, in the game against Manchester City, it could prove fatal for Tottenham’s Premier League campaign.
