2. The fans actually believe

It’s important to remember the impact of the 12th man, particularly on the players. For too long, a number of these Arsenal stars felt like the fans had given up on them, which was bound to have psychological impacts on them.

Under Wenger, fans would consistently post about their discomfort with the players on social media. Either that or they would voice their concerns on a particular fan channel – you know the one I’m talking about.

However, a quick dabble through Arsenal Fan TV now will show you the positive aura around the club at the moment. Obviously, there’s still the odd excuse to moan, but all in all, fans are optimistic for change.

With this optimism from the fans, comes immense confidence to the players. There was no pressure on the players to perform in Emery’s season, but I believe this form is indicative of the close gap between fans and players. Some say the 12th man has lost its edge in modern times, but we know better.

There’s a reason why the likes of Liverpool are coming up with consistently exciting football. It’s because the players want to please the supporters who please them each and every week.

The players who were often criticised last season are reaping the rewards of being praised, that’s for sure. The likes of Mesut Ozil, Hector Bellerin and Alex Iwobi look revitalised. But let’s save that for later into the slideshow, where I will go into more detail of the players to benefit.
