False Nine- Federico Valverde- 7/10

On paper, Federico Valverde was the central midfielder but throughout the match, he kept playing just behind Vinicius Junior and Karim Benzema. The Uruguay international tracked back to help in the defending without the ball and did a good job whilst he had it in his feet. Valverde played some great balls forward to Vinicius and Benzema (Cristo in the second half) and had two chances of his own as well. Unfortunately, he flustered a clear scoring chance in the first half and things may have been easier for Madrid had he scored.

Right Forward- Karim Benzema- 6.5/10

Karim Benzema played only the first half and a fracture to his tiny finger on the right hand meant that he had to make way for Cristo Gonzalez at half-time. The Frenchman did everything but directly get involved in the goals during the first half and it was a good performance from him. Santiago Solari will be sweating over the fitness of his star striker and hope that things are fine. Benzema’s fracture did not look too good at the start but he could be back soon after tests revealed its extent.

Left Forward- Vinicius Junior- 7.5/10

Vinicius Junior gave some worrying moments to the Real Betis defenders, Marc Bartra in particular. He exploited his pace intelligently and carried Real Madrid’s toothless attack in the second half. He would have hoped that he could make an impact and score some more goals to add to his tally, but he did not get much sniff of the ball to do so. Vinicius has come up big for Real Madrid this season and if he continues playing regularly, he can probably touch the 10 goal mark by the end of this season.
