RB Leipzig want to steal Troy Parrott away from Tottenham in the summer, but Spurs can’t allow the prolific young striker to leave.

Troy Parrott hasn’t played a minute of first team football during his Tottenham career, but that doesn’t stop him from being one of the more valuable players at the club. Spurs absolutely cannot afford to let the Irish striker leave for the Bundesliga this summer.

European sources claim that RB Leipzig are already lining up a swoop for Parrott. Such a move is not unheard of. Tottenham lost Academy striker Reo Griffiths to Lyon last summer. Griffiths has struggled to make a big impact for the French club, but that doesn’t mean Spurs are happy with the way he departed North London.

Griffiths was a nice prospect for Mauricio Pochettino’s side, but Parrott is on a much different level. The way he’s played for the club’s youth setup has caused many scouts to forecast him as the ultimate successor for Harry Kane. Spurs fans hope Kane won’t be leaving North London anytime soon, but they still hope Parrott can live up to his big reputation sooner rather than later.

It’s even possible that Tottenham might decide to give Parrott a chance to be Kane’s primary backup next season. Fernando Llorente will be out of contract in the summer and he’s been an unreliable option during his brief stint with the club.

Vincent Janssen arrived with big expectations but he’s nowhere near a meaningful role for the first time. Tottenham will be desperate to offload his contract this summer.

Even if Spurs do buy another backup for Kane it’s still imperative to keep hold of Parrott. The young striker has an eye for goal that’s not seen very often at the Academy level. He’s just the sort of prospect that Tottenham want to build their squad around. Trying to purchase a similar player from another club could easily cost Spurs upwards of £40 million in the transfer market.

The good news for Tottenham is that Parrott seems to be settled at the club. That wasn’t the case for Griffiths. The young Irish hit man seems comfortable with his progression under Pochettino. Spurs need to make sure he maintains that feeling throughout the summer.
