Kostas Manolas

Depending on who Juventus is actually willing to sell this summer, Kostas Manolas might actually be the more realistic signing for Juventus this summer. Thanks to their consistently disappointing performances last season they are now stuck trying to play their way into the Europa league next season. That means they are going to need to sell some players this summer and Manolas seems to be high on their list of departures.

Manolas is a very reliable center back who Juventus could be available for cheaper than he should be because Roma’s lack of another capable center back made the whole defense look bad this season. Manolas is still capable of putting on the types of performances that helped Roma shut opponent after opponent out during the Champions League last season. He would be a great partner for Giorgio Chiellini and a huge improvement over what Juve got out of Leonardo Bonucci last season.

Selling him to Juventus could also help Roma to fill another position where they need to improve. Roma had a really tough time filling the hole left at goalkeeper by Alisson’s departure. Robin Olsen had a rough season and is likely to be sold this summer. Antonio Mirante is 35 years old and isn’t a keeper Roma can hope to get back to the Champions League with. On the other hand, Juventus has no such problems at keeper. Wojciech Szczesny made Mattia Perin’s transfer unnecessary last season, which makes the 26-year-old a perfect candidate to take over goalkeeping duties at Roma. His transfer could be included in the deal for Manolas and would benefit both teams and his career. Roma knows that no matter what they are going to lose Manolas this summer, so they might as well get a player who can help them stay competitive as the part of the deal.
