According to Sky Sports, Bayern Munich wants to sign a back-up right back for Joshua Kimmich, and Tottenham’s Kieran Trippier is on the shortlist.

28-year-old Trippier had a disappointing 2018/19 campaign with Tottenham, and Pochettino is open to offers for the England international. Napoli and Juventus have been linked with him earlier.

However, given that Bayern is only looking for a player to warm the bench, it is believed that a move for Trippier is unlikely given that he’ll cost a lot more than other options.

Kimmich is currently the undisputed first choice, and possibly the best right back in Europe right now. The 24-year-old made 34 appearances and provided an incredible output of 13 assists in the Bundesliga last season.

It’s therefore highly unlikely that Trippier will displace the German as first choice.

The former Burnley man was one of England’s top performers in the 2018 World Cup in Russia, as the Three Lions progressed all the way to the semifinals before falling to Croatia.

Trippier actually scored his first senior goal for England in that 2-1 loss through a brilliant free kick. However, injuries and a lack of form with Spurs led to his valuation dropping last season.

There are still plenty of clubs willing to take him in, but Tottenham’s asking price might drive them away.

Trippier arrived at Tottenham from Turf Moor in the summer transfer window of 2015 for a measly £3.5 million. After Kyle Walker departed for Manchester City 2 years later, he established himself as the first choice right back.

Across 4 seasons, he’s made 114 appearances for the Lilywhites, scoring 2 goals.

Meanwhile, Spurs are also willing to listen to offers for Serge Aurier, which means that Daniel Levy will almost certainly target a right back as his 3rd summer signing.

Jack Clarke from Leeds United and Tanguy Ndombele from Lyon have already taken the summer spending up to £65 million.

Marseille’s Hiroki Sakai is a player who’s been linked as a replacement for Trippier and Aurier, while academy graduate Kyle Walker-Peters could be assigned a bigger role in the first team. Bayern will probably turn to Monaco’s Benjamin Henrichs.
