Any move for the Danish still doesn’t seem to be on the table however and manager Mauricio Pochettino has finally spoken up giving insight into the current situation and emphasizing that he wants the player to remain at the club.
As reported by Mirror, when asked about whether Eriksen will feature for Spurs next season, Pochettino had the following things to say :
"“I think he is a great player, Christian. One of the biggest talents in football. After five years working with him, I am sure in the way that he plays, and I hope so yes.”"
The Argentine, being well aware of the interests the player has attracted, but says that he can do nothing but only hope that Eriksen stays at the club. The Danish international who contributed to 27 goals last season in all competitions said that him leaving the club depends on a lot of factors, one of the most important one being a club that comes asking for him.
Eriksen believes that he would leave Spurs to go one step up, to a club like Real Madrid. However, the Danish also said that if nothing pops up that seems exciting, he may even end up staying back at Tottenham and sign a new contract.
Eriksen will be in the last season of his current contract if he doesn’t leave the club during this transfer window which means that he might either sign a new deal with the London club or may end up leaving them for free, something that will be really disastrous for Spurs.
Will Eriksen be a Spurs player at the end of the transfer window or will he have left the club for pastures new?
