3. England

Following an impressive run to the semi-finals during the 2018 World Cup, the Three Lions look primed and ready as ever to make a meaningful push towards a European championship in the summer of 2020.

Led by former national team player Gareth Southgate, England has no shortage of dynamic firepower in the final third of the pitch with the likes of Harry Kane, Raheem Sterling, Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho leading the way. Opposition will surely have to pick their poison in deciding who they will try and stop. It won’t be easy with all of these players just entering the primes of their career. Expect England to put up some big goal tallies in next summer’s tournament.

The midfield, though relatively young has a lot going for it. Playmakers like James Maddison, Dele Alli and Ross Barkley will be supported by more defensive minded players like Declan Rice, Harry Winks and Jordan Henderson. If Southgate can get the formula right for his starting XI, and it could be tricky, this could be a very potent attack indeed.

Towards the back, England possesses some of the most exciting defenders the English Premier League has to offer like Harry Maguire, Kyle Walker, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ben Chilwell, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Michael Keane. Too many options is surely preferred to not enough, but it will be up to Southgate to navigate these dilemmas and assemble a team that on paper looks like it could go the distance next summer.
