LB: Alex Sandro 6/10

I remain unimpressed by what Alex Sandro has had to offer Juventus this season. He has been fine on the defensive end, but he hasn’t really offered much in the attacking end for most of the season.

It seems odd when Juve plays teams like Bologna, as there just isn’t much reason for Sandro to be uninvolved in the attack. Hopefully Juve will be able to get more out of him against Lokomotiv this week.

CB: Matthijs de Ligt 6.5/10

As is usually the case against mid-table opposition, Juventus didn’t give their defense very much to do. Matthijs de Ligt was solid the few times he was called into action. It was a nice bounce back from the match against Inter and he’ll surely be called upon once again on Tuesday.

CB: Leonardo Bonucci 6.5/10

Leonardo Bonucci’s performance had the same issue as de Ligt’s. He really just wasn’t asked to do much in the match. Like de Ligt, he was very reliable when called upon and continues to inspire confidence in this defense. We got the good news this week that Giorgio Chiellini could come back before March and when he does, Juve will have 3 formidable center backs available.

RB:  Juan Cuadrado 6/10

I thought starting Juan Cuadrado at right back would eventually cause some problems for Juve, but I didn’t expect those problems to come against Bologna. This was the match where we finally saw Cuadrado’s defensive deficiencies leave openings for the opponent.

Cuadrado left his wing completely uncovered on Bologna’s goal, allowing Danilo (the other one) the space he needed to get his shot off. It was clear for most of the match that Bologna’s plan was to attack Cuadrado to try and find openings.

He was better on the other end of field, but not enough to cancel out the defensive struggles. With Danilo back from injury, Cuadrado will now go back to fighting for starts and this performance won’t help him.
