RB: Trent Alexander-Arnold – 3.5/10

In the first half, the young Englishman was isolated by United’s compact block of five defenders. He did manage to swing in a few crosses and switch the play, although he was let down by his wayward passes.

There were multiple occasions which frustrated Klopp where Alexander-Arnold crossed from too deep. This can be put down as his inexperience but he should know by now that the deeper a cross is played, the easier it is to defend.

CB: Virgil van Dijk – 7/10

It was by no means van Dijk’s best performance but he was still the best player for Liverpool. He was defensively tight and his passes from the back were composed. There was one occasion where Manchester United fans thought that Marcus Rashford has got into his head but he did well to recover and he kept the scoring to a minimum.

CB: Joel Matip – 5/10

Matip was far too hesitant with his tackling which cost Liverpool at times. Marcus Rashford made him look silly on a few occasions. There was also an instance towards the end where Daniel James left him for dead. He did okay at covering some scraps left by Virgil van Dijk but when he was at the forefront, Matip let the Liverpool supporters down.

LB: Andrew Robertson – 6.5/10

It was difficult to judge Robertson’s performance. He was much better than his full back counterpart and he made fewer mistakes. However, his play was overall negative. Too many times he received the ball, he started to move the play backwards.

The most important thing for Jurgen Klopp and the Liverpool fans is that he provided the right cross in the end. It wasn’t the best display but the Scotsman played his part.
