Barcelona: Five early January transfer targets for the Catalans
By Bence Bocsak
Barcelona have had a mixed season so far and with some players out of form they may look for the January transfer window to solve their problems.
In the past Barcelona have tended to not meddle in the January transfer window in terms of incomings too much with only Philippe Coutinho’s recent arrival which could be considered as major singing for the Catalans when compared to the Spanish outfit’s extensive spending sprees in the summer.
However the club have made some shrewd moves in the transfer window in the past bringing in the likes of Kevin Prince Boateng on loan last season and signing Yerry Mina permanently two years ago.
The Catalans may look to do the same this time around. Here are five players who could potentially be on Barcelona’s radar come January.
1. Pierre- Emerick Aubameyang
Club: Arsenal
Position: Forward
The Gabon international has been in sensational form for the Gunners since his arrival at the London club in January of 2018. In less than two years Aubameyang has netted 40 league goals in just 60 appearances and he was vastly prolific for Borussia Dortmund prior to his arrival also scoring over a 100 times during his four and a half-year spell with the German side.
Now according to reports Aubameyang is on the radar of Barcelona officials who look to ignite the Catalans’ attacking flair going forward.
With Arsenal unable to find their rhythm yet again under Unai Emery and the Champions League spots already slipping away from the Gunners Aubameyang would potentially be keen on a move away in order to ensure he plays in Europe’s finest competition once more.
With his pace and versatility which allows him to play on the wing, he could be the perfect attacking addition for Barcelona and the player to take them back to the level where the Catalan club belongs.
