Left Winger: Ousmane Dembele

Valverde is split between whether to choose Ousmane Dembele or Antoine Griezmann for the game against Dortmund and considering the blistering pace Dembele possesses, he should get the nod ahead of Griezmann. The €120 million signing, Griezmann has found life difficult at Barcelona after moving from Atletico Madrid. He has failed to replicate the form that earned him a move to the Camp Nou, scoring only 4 times in 16 games.

Whereas Dembele, who has been in and out of the team due to injuries and discipline issues has been effective on the pitch. Dembele might not have been able to contribute goals on a regular basis but the presence of such a speedster on the pitch will assist Barcelona in the game against Dortmund.

Favre’s side have a high backline and the former Borussia Dortmund winger might be able to expose the gaps and use his trickery and pace to evade the defenders. However, Dembele will also be expected to track back the opponents and keep the ball, he often loses the ball and this might cause Barca a lot of troubles considering how lightning quick the Germans are on the counter.

Striker: Luis Suarez

You may love him for his outstanding goalscoring skills, you may hate him for his drop of form and poor showings in the Champions League games, but the truth is you can’t keep Luis Suarez away from the lineup. Suarez is one of the most trusted players in the dressing room and the coach relies on him to turn up in these kind of games.

He might have an abysmal Champions League record but you can never keep El Pistolero out of the game. He might be 32 and on the decline but still has enough to give to the Barcelona team. The Uruguayan has notched 9 goals in 14 games and will remain a threat to Mats Hummels and Manuel Akanji.

Right Wing: Lionel Messi

There’s not even one per cent doubt on this one. Lionel Messi is a must in the team and ideally he would be the one who’ll deliver the sucker punch and lead Barcelona to the victory. The Argentine wizard has caught up the goalscoring leaders in La Liga despite being out initially due to injury.

A Messi masterclass can pull Dortmund apart into pieces and everyone will be hoping to see his magic on Wednesday as the club tries to book their place in the knock-out stages. He’ll be a constant menace on the right and towards the centre and will make Nico Schulz toil throughout the game.

The Blaugrana legend has already scored 9 goals and provided 6 assists in 12 games and I personally believe that he’ll light up the Nou Camp on Wednesday by another mesmeric performance in his 700th game for the club. Messi often bends the Champions League nights to his own will and he might make a case of Dortmund if they don’t respect Barcelona.
