LB: Alex Sandro 6.5/10

I’m sure you already know what I’m going to say about Alex Sandro’s performance in this match. Much like the rest of his season, Sandro played strong on the defensive end, but didn’t really provide much for the attack. His consistency should be admired, but Juve’s attack is still looking for somebody to provide it with a boost. Sandro could definitely be that person when Juve controls possession like they did against Sassuolo. Hopefully he can make a change soon.

CB: Leonardo Bonucci 8.5/10

As if his defensive contributions hadn’t been enough this season, Leonardo Bonucci got sick of his team’s sluggish attack on Sunday and decided to take care of that himself too. He drifted forward while Juve was in possession and perfectly placed a shot from outside of the box to open the match’s scoring. There wasn’t a lot to get excited about from Juventus against Sassuolo, but Leonardo Bonucci’s performance was one thing that made the list.

CB: Matthijs de Ligt 3/10

I really didn’t see this coming. Matthijs de Ligt had been incredible over the last few weeks, but took a huge step back against Sassuolo. His passing was sloppy throughout the match, but it didn’t get any worse than when he passed the ball directly to Francesco Caputo right outside of the box to set up his goal. I’m sure this will be an anomaly and he’ll get back to normal against Lazio, but the performance was costly for Juve in this match.

RB: Juan Cuadrado 6.5/10

Juan Cuadrado played well for most of this match. He was active on the attacking end and played a strong match for most of the day on defense. Unfortunately, he needs to take some of the blame for Sassuolo’s second goal. It was de Ligt’s pass to Caputo that directly led to the goal, but Cuadrado put de Ligt in a tough spot with a pass of his own. Cuadrado’s mistake was more forgivable and he redeemed himself throughout the match, so I don’t expect that moment to hurt his chances of keeping the starting job too much.
