When you think about Tottenham Hotspur legends names like Danny Blanchflower, Glenn Hoddle and David MacKay strike one’s mind. While considering Spurs greats, players such as Harry Kane, Luka Modric, and Gary Lineker fit that bracket. Another name that gets the nod in the above category is of Gareth Bale.

Ever since Gareth Bale left Tottenham in 2013 for Real Madrid, Spurs supporters are fantasizing of his return. This horde of fans might just see their wildest fantasy come true as Tottenham Hotspur have been plotting a move to bring Bale back to their club. Bale is unhappy with his situation at Real Madrid and has been mulling over a transfer since ages.

According to Eldesmarque, Tottenham Hotspur chiefs are preparing a swap deal for Gareth Bale and Christian Eriksen. Bale might be Spurs fans’ New year present as the North London club aim to offer Christian Eriksen and a sum of £30 million to facilitate Bale’s return. Eriksen’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season and has been very keen to move to Santiago Bernabeu and become the lynchpin of the Madrid midfield.

Daniel Levy, the chairman of the club, is a shrewd and a smart businessman. He’s well aware Christian Eriksen’s desire to leave London and Real Madrid’s craving for the Great Dane. Using Eriksen as bait to activate Bale’s return is a masterstroke from a true business mind. The Welsh player could end up leaving in January and come back to the Premier League in a completely unexpected operation.

More from Tottenham Hotspur

Bale for long remains an exasperated figure in Spain. He is been the public enemy number one in the Spanish capital and angered a fanbase of millions with his anti-Real gestures. Most recently, the “Wales. Golf. Madrid. In that order” created one of the biggest controversies of the season and the Los Blancos hierarchy has become sick of Bale’s attitude.

Coach Zinedine Zidane and the Welshman share a strained relationship and their liaison hit rock bottom when the French manager tried to publicly force Bale out of the team this summer. The whole incident left Bale hurt and he made up his mind to leave Madrid. When Jose Mourinho assumed the charge of Spurs, Bale was quick to give his nod and acknowledged the Portuguese. Now it seems that Bale’s good words for Mourinho were to break the ice and establish a friendly wave between the pair.

The ex Chelsea boss has given a green signal for persuasion of Bale and is willing to use Eriksen as a currency to bring the Welshman back to the English Top flight. The entire deal is a win-win for everyone. Real Madrid would see a disconnected figure leave and will welcome a nimble playmaker that they always wanted. Tottenham will see a return of their star and Gareth Bale will get a legend’s welcome at a club where fans love to watch him.
