Opinion: Krzysztof Piatek should reject Tottenham
By Durim Halimi
Tottenham have targeted AC Milan striker Krzysztof Piatek as a replacement for Harry Kane, but the Polish international would be wise to say no.
Tottenham are desperately searching for a striker to replace their star man, Harry Kane. Jose Mourinho’s main man will be sidelined for at least the next two months with a torn hamstring. According to a new report from SempreMilan, Tottenham are interested in signing AC Milan striker Krzysztof Piatek.
The return of Zlatan Ibrahimovic indicates that Piatek’s departure from the San Siro is imminent. The Polish international averaged eleven goals a season in the Serie A prior to this campaign, but this season he has only found the back of the net four times in 17 games. To be fair, though, AC Milan have struggled as a collective unit and that is why they are currently 12th in the Serie A table.
Piatek would be a stellar signing for Tottenham, but the 24-year-old striker would be making a big mistake if he agrees to join Tottenham. Playing under Jose Mourinho would be appealing, but here is why Piatek should say no to Tottenham.
More than a replacement player
Tottenham perceive Kane as their long-term striker and they will do whatever they can do keep him until he hangs up his boots. The London-based outfit simply want to sign Piatek to fill Kane’s void until he returns to action, but then what? Well, nothing.

Piatek, who is about to enter his prime as a footballer, would be wasting his time at Tottenham. By the time the Polish star adapts to English football, Kane would be recovered and Piatek would drop back to the bench. Piatek has proven that he can be a reliable striker who scores goals on a regular basis, so he needs to make a move where he is the primary striker in a squad.
That being said, Newcastle United would actually be a much better move for Piatek than Tottenham. A different report from SempreMilan claims that the Italian giants are currently in talks with Newcastle United regarding a potential loan deal with the option to buy at the end of the season. The Magpies spent big on Joelinton in July, but the Brazilian has only scored one goal this season.
Tottenham are a bigger club and would be more impressive on a player’s portfolio, but Newcastle United present Piatek with more value in his career. In the end, the young striker will decide what is best for him, but being a temporary replacement player at a big club is not ideal.
