CM: Roberto Gagliardini 6.5/10

This wasn’t the greatest match statistically for Roberto Gagliardini, but he did have one impressive moment that stood out on Monday. He made a really nice run deep into Napoli’s end and I’m not still not entirely sure how he managed to sneak a pass through to Lautaro Martinez while he was on the ground. It only created a half chance, but it was at least something positive. He was rather unremarkable the rest of the match up until he was subbed off in the 55th minute for Nicolo Barella.

CM: Marcelo Brozovic 8/10

I thought Marcelo Brozovic was the best player in this match for Inter Milan who wasn’t a part of their striking tandem. He played a strong match defensively, which gave his fellow midfielders freedom to attack. He passed the ball well, including assisting Lukaku’s second goal. Overall, it was just a very impressive performance for Brozovic. He should have the chance to look even better soon as Stefano Sensi and Barella rejoin the starting lineup.

CM: Matias Vecino 6.5/10

This was a sloppy match for Mattias Vecino. He completed only 73% of his passes, which isn’t exactly what you’d hope for from your midfielders. He also just wasn’t very involved in the buildup to Inter’s attacks. However, he did have one redeeming quality. His 5 interceptions helped make life difficult for Napoli’s midfield and kept them from building too many promising opportunities. He has served his purpose in Inter Milan’s midfield, but I think it’s only a matter of time before Stefano Sensi takes his spot in the starting lineup.
