CB: Diego Godin

Diego Godin looks to be back to full strength after missing a little bit of time with an injury. He might not be quite the same player he was when he was younger, but there is no denying that Godin brings a lot out of this defense. He maintains his strong aerial ability and brings a strength to the defense that has helped them become the best defense in Serie A. He is one the onlypalyer in this starting lineup who has experience winning a league title and he’ll be kept in this starting lineup to try to lead his teammates to some winning of their own.

CB: Stefan de Vrij

Stefan de Vrij has never quite been a defender who is mentioned in the same category as the likes of Kalidou Koulibaly, Giorgio Chiellini, or Diego Godin, but he is incredibly consistent. It is a very rare occasion that de Vrij’s teammates have to worry about getting anything other than a strong defensive showing from him (aside from that one debacle with Lazio right before he went to Inter). He is the anchor in the middle of this Inter back 3 and they’ll continue to rely on him this season.

CB: Milan Skriniar

Milan Skriniar has started all but one match for Inter Milan this season. Unfortunately, that one he missed was because he took a completely unnecessary yellow card against Napoli that got him suspended for the match against Atalanta. That proved costly as Inter spent most of the second half against Atalanta on the back foot and could have used Skriniar’s talents to keep Atalanta from equalizing the match. However, there’s plenty of reason to believe he just might start every match possible in the second half of the season. He remains one of the most talented young defenders in all of Italy and Inter will be thrilled to have him back in the starting lineup against Lecce.
